General Information Letter
Welcome to the 2024-2025 season at Let’s Dance Studio! The dance studio is located behind the Cenex gas station, next to the laundromat.
Dear Dancers and Parents,
Classes will begin Monday, September 9th. The recital is tentatively set for April 24th, 25th, and 26th at the new arts center, RiverPlace.
Classes offered: (See schedule for days and times)
Holy Yoga classes will begin on Wednesday, September 11th. Holy Yoga will be Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 until the end of April. The cost is $10.00 per class and qualifies for Marvin’s fitness program. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat. I DO have extra mats if you need to borrow one. The first class is free for all new students. Every time you bring a friend, that has never attended, you and your friend will enjoy a free class. Kids are welcome to join if they are old enough to follow along and not cause a distraction for the rest of the class.
Tap/Jazz: The tap and jazz combination class is a fun and engaging class where dancers learn tap and jazz technique, skills, and combinations. They will be challenged with up-to-date choreography and age-appropriate routines. This class is designed for kids ages 3 to high school.
Preschool: The preschool class combines tap, jazz, ballet, and acro. This class is designed to be fun while working on age appropriate skills for 3 and 4 year olds.
Ballet: Dancers ages 5– High School are open to take ballet. Ballet is a classical form of dance highlighting the grace of precision of flowing patterns to create expression through movement. Learning the terminology and musicality will create a love for ballet.
Ballet 5-Pointe: The students who are ready (determined by age and teacher) can take Pointe. Pointe focuses on the advancement of movements, musicality, and most importantly strength.
ACRO: WE LOVE ACRO! I have been so impressed with the huge progression in strength and flexibility in the students that have taken this class! Acro is not a performance class. This class is designed to add a new dimension of strength and flexibility to the dancers. The students will learn traditional tumbling skills such as forward/backward rolls, cartwheels, round offs, back/front walkover, back/front handspring, arials, leaps, jumps, etc. They will practice lifts and partner work as well as strength and coordination allows. We will be using the skills from acro to routines in the dance classes. This class is designed for kids ages 5 to high school.
Technique: Technique focuses on building strength and flexibility using props and body weight. Dancers taking technique will be able to work on small skills in order to improve on a wide range of more complex moves such as multiple pirouettes, a la seconde turns, and switch leaps. Dancers are required to take Jazz/Tap, Acro, and Ballet because technique focuses on all these genres. Technique is not a performance class.
Adult Ballet: Whether you're a beginner or coming back to the barre, our Adult Ballet class focuses on building strength, flexibility, and elegance. Learn the fundamentals, improve posture, and discover the beauty of ballet in a fun, welcoming atmosphere. You are never too late to start or restart your ballet journey.
Adult Tap/Jazz: Adult Tap/Jazz class includes the rhythm and precision of tap dancing for the first part of the class with the technique and groove of jazz dancing in the second half. You'll improve coordination, boost confidence, and get a great full-body workout, all while having fun! Perfect for all skill levels, this class offers a welcoming environment where you will feel comfortable exploring new steps and building your dance skills.
Parent/Grandparent and Me (offered in sessions for ages birth to 3): Join us for a fun-filled class where the little ones and their favorite grown-up can enjoy a blend of activities. This class combines, dance, art, acro, and reading with the help of their grown-up, to spark creativity and confidence. It's the perfect opportunity for bonding, learning, and making unforgettable memories.
Special one-day classes will be offered throughout the year that will be advertised on FB as well as emails.

Dress Code: This year the dress code is required. Dancers should look like they are dancers. I cannot stress this enough. Kids typically improve faster when they wear proper dance attire and wear proper shoes. Below is the dress code for each genre.
DRESS CODE FOR BALLET CLASS:
GIRLS: Ballet 1: pink, purple, black, or white leotards of any kind with white, tan, or pink tights. Skirts or shorts can be worn with a leotard. Pink ballet slippers (canvas or leather) are preferred, but black is acceptable.
Ballet 2: Any shade of a blue leotard with white, tan, or pink tights. Skirts, skorts, shorts, or leggings of any color can be worn with a leotard. Pink ballet slippers (canvas or leather) are preferred, but black is acceptable.
Ballet 3: Any shade of a burgundy or maroon leotard with black, tan, or ballet pink tights. Skirts, shorts, or leggings of any color can be worn with a leotard. Any shade of burgundy or maroon athletic/active dress with a clear waist seam with black, tan, or ballet pink tights is also an option. Pink ballet slippers (canvas or leather) are preferred, but black is acceptable.
Ballet 4 and 5: A black leotard with black, tan, or ballet pink tights. Skirts, skorts, shorts, or leggings of any color can be worn with a leotard. Black athletic/active dress with a clear waist seam with black, tan, or ballet pink tights is also an option. Pink ballet slippers (canvas or leather) are preferred, but black is acceptable.
BOYS: Fitted shirts or tank tops that are white, black, or the color of their class level with athletic pants or shorts. Pink ballet slippers (canvas or leather) are preferred, but black is acceptable.
DRESS CODE FOR TAP/JAZZ
GIRLS: preschool, level 1,2, 3, and 4: Any ballet required attire, fitted tops, crop tops, shorts, leggings, ballet skirts, athletic skirts, or skorts. Tights are optional, but encouraged with shorts, skorts, leotards, and skirts. Preschool and level 1 should have ballet slippers, but can practice in jazz shoes. Level 2, 3 and 4 can wear ballet slippers, half shoes, or jazz shoes for practice, but other shoes may be required depending on the style of jazz. Tap shoes are needed for all levels.
BOYS: preschool, level 1,2, 3, and 4: Fitted shirts or tank tops with athletic pants or shorts.
DRESS CODE FOR ACRO
ALL LEVELS, BOYS AND GIRLS: Any of the required ballet or tap/jazz dancewear. Kids will be spending time upside down so fitted shirts are required. The mats are slippery, so it's best to have bare feet.
The kids that have classes after school can keep shoes and dance clothes in the lockers.
Shoes and other dancewear: There are free shoes at the studio. Please check them out. Discount Dance offers good quality dance apparel and shoes at a reasonable rate. The studio/teacher ID is TP25122 for an additional 10% savings on your first order and 5% savings after that. See the descriptions of the dances above for proper attire. See link above.
The dance schedule DOES NOT follow the school calendar. Thursday and Friday, November 27th and 28th for Thanksgiving and December 23rd - January 2nd for Christmas break are the only days we will have off. Classes will be canceled on school-determined snow days.
Competition: Competition tryouts are in the spring of each year. See details below.
Students that are under driving age will not be allowed to leave the studio to go to Cenex gas station for food unless I or another instructor receives a written note from a parent or guardian. I personally do not like the idea of the dancers, especially the younger ones, going without supervision.
Please call or email if you have any questions! I’m looking forward to seeing all my current students and working with new ones.
